Miserable At Best Riding The Subway Train

As I ride the metro, I start thinking how lucky we are in our modern society to be able to move long distances at a fast pace underground without dealing with traffic.

This underground railway system is so convenient for us city folks. Yet when I ride this amazing railway machine I notice that people around me are not smiling. We all seem so unhappy and depressed.

Every now and then young adults are laughing and having fun but everybody looks at them like they came from another planet. A bunch of kids came in the metro the other day, I was ecstatic it brought liveliness and so much joy. I looked around most people seemed uncomfortable and looked away.

I ponder…Why is it that every time I take the underground tube people seem so miserable?

It is because people have seasonal blues? Claustrophobia? Stress to get to work on time? Does being underground in a dark tunnel automatically make you feel down? Or is it that most humans are unhappy?

Have I just noticed it more in the subway since it gathers a flock of people together by no choice of their own because they need to go to their destination? Am I now more in tune with my feelings and sense how people feel around me almost immediately?

Well all is not lost to have some fun in the subway. What can we do to make the ride more fun?

Put on a costume
Sing a song
Have fun
Laugh

I challenge myself to make others laugh in the subway. I challenge you to have more fun in the subway next time.
